For You, Who Sing With The Garden Birds

Greetings From The West Coast

~ Voice letter transcribed ~

‘Hello everyone! Sorry it’s been a little while and welcome to all of you that are joining my mailing list for the first time. Most of you, I think, are people I met when I was on tour back in March. That feels like such a long time ago already. I am hoping though that I can get back to see you all later this year. I’m looking to put on a few shows in Winter around Europe again.

I thought I would try something new for this newsletter. To try and speak to you all a little more directly.

I’m sitting under some hazel trees by the seashore at the moment, on the west coast of Scotland where I’ve recently moved to and thought it would be nice to just bring you with me. So, if you’re listening to this message you’ll be able to hear the waves and hopefully, some oyster catchers that are wandering around along the shore beside me.

Let me be quiet for a second and hopefully you could hear them -

(…)

Now, letting people into my world in a way that feels right has been a journey and presenting myself and my art on social media is something I’ve never found easy or straightforward. Regardless of whatever it is I’m creating there are always pieces of nature weaving itself into the work. But all I wish I could do is just take you for a walk or have you sit here beside me at the sea or explore the forests and mountains together and just share stories and songs. For now, this voice letter will be the closest I can get for us all being together in nature. But leave it with me and I’ll see what I can come up with. Maybe something physical and something real.

So really, I just wanted to say a brief hello to start this off and test the voice letter out. Maybe it will be the new way forward with my newsletters. I don’t know where it’s going to lead to but isn’t that the beauty of trying something new?

Farewell from me and the sea, I’m sending all my love to you.

Let’s talk again soon ok? Bye for now.’

~ Something New To Share ~

A lot has been happening over the past few months but this recent creation I am the most proud of, which was released on the Summer solstice - the visual accompaniment to my tune 'For You, Who Sings With The Garden Birds'. A piece of work inspired by the shapes and movements of nature found here in Scotland.

I would love for you to take a moment and join me, wandering through fields and shorelines, and follow the lines that are carved deep into the sky by vast mountains ranges and travelling birds.

This video has taken quite some time to create and contains a collection of footage I've captured of moments in nature over the past 3 years that I wish I could have held forever.

It is dear to my heart - I hope you will enjoy it too.
